Title: Harvard transfer & Tucsonan PG Evan Nelson has committed to Arizona!
Post by: WILD on April 10, 2025, 07:26:14 PM
Evans Averaged 9.1 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 2.9 APG, 1.4 SPG, and Nelson shot 40% from 3 (38/94) this past season.

He'll be a solid backup PG to Bradley. Awesome to see a Tucson kid who went to Salpointe Highschool become a Wildcat.

Love it!  A local kid that is efficient from the floor and has enough experience to fill in when Bradley is on the bench (or slides to the SG position).

A smart replacement for Conrad Martinez? 40% from 3 and 91% FT's is not too shabby even if he isn't supposed to get much run, maybe he can rub off on others in practice and come in games late if we need to close it out on the line.

He's 6'2 so he's literally an upgrade in size and he'll be a big time distributor. Love this pick up!!

Doesn't seem like passing was his forte, but on This particular team we have tons of finishers so if he is actually to be part of the guard rotation then I can see how he could rack up some dimes.

Need to watch more Footage, but the Ivy League is not soft. No teams are de facto pushovers and the best 4 or 5 schools all run good systems. So I am thinking he should be able to hold his own if he can get the fouls and turnovers down

Let's be honest. Harvard was just plain bad. He led the team in APG and nobody's A:TO was good. Their season was entirely ass, so it's difficult to extrapolate anything useful from the stats other than him being a quality shooter that has experience as a primary ball handler / facilitator.

Shooting those percentages on a poor team speaks loudly. That's really good. He'll be more efficient playing on a good team.

Absolutely. His assists will definitely rise. Hopefully he can keep the turnovers down in the tough Big-12. We are in need of an experienced, long defender that can handle the ball alongside Bradley.

Find a backup big man and this team will be set.

Read a lot but seldom post. If the coaching staff feels good about him so do I, and a Tucsonan makes it even better.

Again, not yet sure what his role will be. He may never see the court unless we need to close it out on the FT line, but who knows. He has limited shots from 3, but hit a good %.

Maybe he can fill some backup minutes. I am expecting 35 minutes a night from Bradley and Burries. If Nelson gets the other 10 minutes I will be surprised as we have other players involved like Del'Taco right? Delly showed a lot this year if he ends up staying too he has a nice role as the 3rd guard, but maybe this is the prelude to ADO getting a pay raise to go elsewhere

Hopefully Carter stays.

Koa. Krivas.

Then there is also Awaka.

We are 1 Big short at moment.
