BOOM! 5-star Guard Brayden Burries Commits To Arizona!
In a major recruiting win for the Arizona Wildcats, five-star guard Brayden Burries announced his commitment on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, during an appearance on ESPN's SportsCenter.
The 6-foot-4 combo guard from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Eastvale, California, chose Arizona over a competitive list of finalists that included Alabama, Oregon, Tennessee, and USC. Ranked as the No. 11 overall prospect in the 2025 class by 247Sports, Burries brings elite talent and versatility to Tucson.
Burries, a McDonald's All-American, showcased his skills on the national stage during his senior season, averaging an impressive 27.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.8 steals per game over the past two years. Known for his scoring prowess across all three levels and a formidable mid-range jumper, he's a dynamic playmaker with a projectable frame that promises further growth. His standout performance earned him the High School On SI California Player of the Year title, cementing his status as one of the top guards in the country.
The decision marks a Big moment for Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd, who continues to build a powerhouse 2025 recruiting class. Burries joins fellow five-star forward Koa Peat, four-star wing Dwayne Aristode, and three-star guard Bryce James, pushing the Wildcats' class into the top five nationally. His connection with Peat, a teammate at the McDonald's All-American Game, likely played a role in his choice.
Burries expressed enthusiasm about joining Arizona, highlighting the program's culture and environment. "Their culture is like family; they are all there for each other," he said in a previous interview with ESPN. "The fans and atmosphere are incredible. I feel blessed to continue my basketball journey and legacy in Arizona." He also emphasized his goals in an earlier On3 interview, stating, "My goal is to get to the NBA and stay there. I want a college where the coach will let me play through mistakes, and Arizona fits that."
With Burries now in the fold, Arizona's backcourt gains a high-IQ creator who can score, facilitate, and defend at an elite level. As the Wildcats prepare for the 2025-26 season, his addition signals their intent to compete for a national championship. For Burries, it's a chance to shine under Lloyd's player-friendly system and chase his NBA dreams in a program known for developing talent. Arizona fans have plenty to cheer about—this commitment is a slam dunk for the future.

Unbelievable amount of talent headed to Tucson in the fall. So excited to see Burries scoring at a high level.
Arizona needs a balanced offense and we'll have a nice mix of experienced upperclassmen with the best incoming freshman class.

Gotta like a Rebounding Guard who has the tenacity to go for steals and can find the open man breaking down the defense while knowing when to get up his shots as well.

Balanced System would be a better way of putting it. I would like to see some emphasis on Defense this season. We already know we can score running up and down. Now I am hoping to see more Lockdown Man, multiple defenses of a mix of man+zone and some more active pressing not just when down in an emergency.
The post defense can only get better with Veesaar and Townsend out.
Losing Love and Lewis hurts the defensive backcourt but we're bringing in guards that don't combine for 23% from deep so we can sacrifice the loss.

Ok possibly true. Assuming Mo can get back on D. Conditioning is key.
