Title: College Basketball Crown (CBC)
Post by: arxpert on March 31, 2025, 07:02:16 PM
I really like this concept playing out.

16 teams

Playing for $500,000.
2nd wins $300,000
3rd and 4th win $50,000 each

While i would prefer no prize for 3rd and 4th (and even no prize for 2nd... Winner Take All) --- I think it is interesting.

Boise State Opted out of the NIT to try to make a run for this money.

Imagine if Arizona opted out of the Big Dance and took the $500,000 and ran...

Arizona State is playing Nebraska as I am posting this.

I think it is a bit like "LIV TOUR" Infiltrating College Basketball, but what did anyone expect?

I am a big fan of TBT with the Elam Ending. This is sort of similar.

Can't wait to see where this concept goes and grows in this NIL Wild West Era...

Update: ASU was up on Nebraska down the stretch, but Nebraska surged forward massively for the Win. Hurley had a meltdown. He may suffer a heart attack on the court someday. I hope he doesn't. It would be terrible, but he needs a chill pill. Dude is borderline psychotic out there.

Bob gives the fans what they want. He puts on an elaborate circus act, and they laugh and take pictures and throw peanuts at him. It's a great gig. I'm anxious to see what he has up his sleeve next season.

So much for earning the bonus money. These assu "students" could have entered the portal weeks ago. Now their scholarship at a WCC school was taken by a community college commit. Bummer.

Kind of like Ric "WOOOO" Flair... who actually had a heart attack in the ring once..

Yeah, I was just referencing the "leftover" players that were still participating in this "tournament". Sanon and Quaintence are talented guys that made an extremely poor choice out of high school.

I wonder if anybody will remain on their roster next season, or if Hurley will have to find 8 transfers.

I still say money is money. Most of these players will get paid anyway, but for the few that aren't getting much, "5k, 30k, 50k" for a week or two of "work" is pretty solid (assuming a roster of 10 players splitting it evenly which I'm sure they all have their own deals).

This is like LIV Tour meets March Madness and I am all for it. The players who don't want to risk injury won't, the players who are disenfranchised and underpaid compared to their cohorts will get a shot at some scratch.

Not much different than TBT, except 4 wins and 1-4 get paid vs a 64 team bracket and Winner Take All for 1 Million. I hope this CBC thing grows personally. Screw the NIT. "Not In Tournament". Pay the kids more until there are "rules" to this insanity.

Colorado and the TadPole got Boyle'd - got their soul's snatched by Villanova... without even a Head Coach. Maryland's Willard took the job and Buzz Williams went to UMD from Texas AM... which is pretty interesting since I don't think Willard has made a Sweet 16 more than 1 time, taking over a major program like Nova...

But Buzz is a nice Fit for the Terps.

I must make an Amendment:

1st Place: $300,000
2nd Place: $100,000
3rd Place: $50,000
4th Place: $50,000

Pennies on the dollar for most of these kids now, but if you are a Senior/no Eligibility left, then this is a great event. Also for the disenfranchised like Boise State who dropped out of the NIT to participate in this... they secured $50,000 for their time.

Nebraska secured at least $100,000 in the Finals.

Right now Villanova and UCF are battling to determine if they can secure $100,000 and a chance at the $300,000 Grand Prize.

Again, great for Seniors and Grad's on their way out who will not get drafted, but also in the NBA those contracts aren't guaranteed in the 2nd round.

So it is better to go Undrafted and Negotiate a contract with Guaranteed Money and maybe some years. We saw this with Bronny James and Keshad Showtime Johnson who bet on himself and secured a heck of a contract.

Besides this CBC, there is TBT coming this summer too.

Plenty of avenues for players to cash in now.

I hope that this becomes a $1,000,000 tournament next season with 64 teams and they scrap the NIT all together. Not sure if the CBI is scrapped.

NCAA is next... The Big Dance is about to have to start being for Cold Hard Cash pretty soon.

Honor and Decency is long gone and whether you are an Old Timer or a Mid Timer old enough to remember the old way, this is the new way of doing business and I hope it stops soon, but until it does I will enjoy watching these kids play for some Scratch.

That is, create a "13th and 14th Grade" at these "Academies" and let the top prospects play for pay and the leftovers can earn they way to the "14th Grade" or otherwise get drafted after 13th, 14th grade... or just play College Ball from the jump and continue to play... thus raising the quality of College Basketball where we don't have to worry as much about 1 year super teams like we are seeing with Duke and how full teams are being assembled in the Portal every year.
