Normally if the choice was to win the PAC12 tourney or sweet 16 I'd choose sweet 16.
The choice is win the Big12 tourney and lose in the 1st or 2nd round or lose in the Big12 tourney and make it to the sweet 16.
Choose one.
Sweet Sixteen, no brainer to me. Rather have a chance of getting to the Elite Eight game, than bow out 1st weekend.
Sweet 16
Yup. That would be three Sweet 16's in a four year period. Pretty impressive, although winning a 16 team tournament in a strong conference is a huge accomplishment as well.

There is only 1 correct choice. It is to win the Conference Banner and restore HONOR to this program.
Getting eliminated right away in the conference tournament isn't going to benefit anybody going into March Madness. If we have players that need the extra rest (KJ), then don't play them. But you should always play to win. Getting 2 extra days off isn't going to magically fix Tom's inability to think quicker and smarter in-game. Only playing games and winning will offer that opportunity.
I know that two years ago feels like an eternity but let's not forget that Arizona recently won a conference tourney, had momentum/confidence as a #2 seed and fell to Princeton.
Bringing home hardware is nice but I personally enjoy making it to the second weekend (if forced to choose).
Sweet 16 and it's really not close to me. Conference tourney banners are fun but quickly forgotten. I mean that conference tournament win was great a couple years ago but as good as winning that felt, losing to Princeton was worse.

The cautionary thing here is making the Sweet 16 doesn't mean we would play a team that we should destroy. We could play a random no name team just play an absolutely unjustified clunker. Not sure where the seeding will be, but a loss right away will make Kansas leapfrog us probably to a 5 seed while we go to the 6 line.
Losing to a token 9 Seeded "Northern Iowa" in the Sweet 16 if we were a 4 or 5 seed wouldn't feel better knowing that they did our dirty work and took out the 1 seed for us, creating an easy road to the Final 4..... that would feel like absolute Shit.
VS playing our hearts out to beat "Kansas, Houston, Iowa State" in a row in Year 1 of being with the Big Boys outside of a powderpuff soft conference like the Pac12.
At least we would have known we truly belonged. As it stands, we only have a random buzzer beater at home to our name over Iowa State. We haven't proven Anything. 1 win over Texas Tech? Nah.
