He has to make a homerun hire at Offensive Coordinator. Akina is the right man for the job at DC
I am confused as to how Akina is the right man for the DC job. Our defense is not good at all anymore. It was good under the right circumstances and players last year. Well, good enough that is. Jedd was many things. Mostly a grifter, but he was a man with connections. I don't see it with Brennan. I also don't particularly care what the financials are either. If it costs money to fire a coach, so be it. They made their bed.
If Brennan were to find the right OC, then that OC should just be the HC too. That's my take. Akina may have the ears of his guys, but this defense is missing a lot of continuity. I actually and crestfallen watching each week as Manu, Tacario, and Co. are getting manhandled and outplayed. Akina does not have his finger on the pulse. It is 1 thing to be less talented, but another thing to not have the players in the right positions to make the plays.
Right now I think both sides of the ball has the "guys aren't in the right positions" problem. A well-led team can overcome a talent differential when the scheme is correct or fits what we have to work with.
I think the ship is looking like swiss cheese lately and sinking.
For the record, I was a big Jedd hater. I was the biggest Sumlin hater here. I saw it from the jump. Jedd changed my opinion of him last year, then rug pulled me. However, I rug pull him back since I truly believe he is a self sabotaging fool who could have kept everything together, added Steve Bellichick if he wanted and went to town on the Big12, getting to the CFP, and then he could have leveraged it into a much better deal. So in the end only time will tell, but the saddest thing is Arizona has to go back to the stone age. The Kris Heavner/Mike Bell days with Mackovich or whoever that mook was during my time.
I hope Brennan can prove me wrong. I still view him as the Tweener, but in my now BDU old age, I am starting to soften a bit. Just about 2%. Giving a few extra links of chain on the leash to prove me wrong and turn things around.
I'M TRYING OK?????

Akina's D just gave up 56 points. We are terrible on both sides of the ball
I always give the benefit of the doubt to coaching staffs but it's hard to find optimism with this staff.
I understand that there are a lot of injuries on D and the LT left before the season started but this is a deep roster that should be winning. Perhaps not national titles but at a minimum, .500 and competitive against the Big-12.
If we don't beat assu, I'm sure the alumni will throw a fit during the offseason.

I can't see this team beating assu
It's a rivalry game and Fifita/T-Mac (alone) have the abilities to punish assu, whose defense has really underperformed.
Houston and TCU aren't great. If we SOMEHOW pull off two consecutive wins, we'll have momentum....and a bowl game in play. At that point, I'd be more optimistic about the Territorial Cup.
Skattebo will outrush and
outscore our entire team.

Really appreciate your optimism, KC

Yeah, this right here --->
I am a Week to Week fan of the team now. I will watch this next game, if we win it is on to the next game of the gauntlet. If we lose, I won't even bother to see how it finishes as I expect T-Mac to opt out and he is realistically the only reason to tune in these days.
He should opt-out if we can't make a bowl game. He probably should opt out if we do make a bowl game.
I know he will finish out the right way, but in reality if we lose any of these next 2 games I don't think he should even bother with ASU for pride factor if we values going to the draft.
I have said that I think he has lost a lot of status this season. He was a Top 5 Pick on my board preseason. I don't know if he is a top 45 pick right now. He has the physical tools, but he isn't the most reliable in route running, timing, blocking, and his hands aren't as great as I would like if I were a NFL scout.
Now I will admit Noah is not helping his cause and a Pro QB would, but the Mike Evans comparison is almost out the window for me. Think of it this way, AJ Brown and DK Metcalf are specimens and they weren't 1st rounders. DK was a 3rd rounder I believe. I am not sure what T-Mac's best move is. Go pro or go play for Jedd after this for a big NIL check.
After seeing this season play out, I really will understand any choices any players make.
It's Basketball Season now and we are no longer a Football School, but last year was very fun while it lasted.
Unless we see a major injury, I can't envision a situation where T-Mac falls out of the first round. I'd kill to see Mahomes throw to him if he somehow ended up becoming the 32nd pick but it's unlikely that he isn't in the top-15.
He has the best hands, solid routes, tough blocking and insane speed (for his size). In an NFL system, he'll be a star.

I have him going around #20 currently which is a common area for a run on WRs that slip past the top 5-10 range now. Being coachable is a major plus for him. I think there's no way he will survive in the NFL without a willingness to block. That makes him a target for most of the good teams. It will depend on his reliability and durability.
There is zero universe where the top teams other than maybe Philly don't trade up if he is sitting around 20-24 range if he can check those boxes, but we've also seen plenty of big bodied WRs fall to the 2nd and 3rd round.
There are no character concerns I know of so KC doesn't seem like a viable landing spot tbh.
Haha. Touche, says the fan of Ray "it wasn't me" Lewis, Terrell Thuggs, Jimmy Smith, Ray Rice, McNair, Fuller, Lewis, etc. Fortubstrly, Baltimore isn't quite Cincy or Oakland.
