Edwards is a 3-star in their internal rankings. He comes in as the No. 120 cornerback while also being ranked as the 201st-best player in Texas. His dad is former NFL cornerback Mario Edwards Sr., who played for the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His brother is Houston Texans defensive lineman Mario Edwards Jr., who was a second round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
He chose Arizona over Boise State, Colorado, SMU, Memphis and Houston.
