Not to mention Anthony Dell'Orso is going to be a factor. Mix that in with the 2024 freshman class and Lloyd has another top 10 squad.
If Bradley can continue to efficiently run the point with minimal turnovers, Arizona will be solid.
I anticipate some losses, especially considering the depth of the Big-12 but it'll hopefully prepare this balanced team for the postseason.
I know we are not realistically thinking that Love is going to come back to Arizona are we?
Lloyd literally found his replacement in the starting lineup in Dell'Orso.
The starting five is set at this point.
It only a matter of figuring out the rotational bench prospects.

From all I heard I think there is a realistic chance Love returns.
If not I find it more likely that Sanon will be in the starting five and not Dell'Orso.
Dell'Orso was supposedly told that he will most likely come off the bench.

I don't see that starting five at all
Same. I think Sanon and Bryant are playing the wing, with Townsend sliding to PF, to ensure that we have enough scorers on the court.
Dell'Orso will get his share of minutes early.
I find this one the most likely:
Bradley
Love or Sanon
Lewis
Townsend
Krivas
I hope Bryant is strong enough to take starting spot in place of KJ. Early reps and recruiting pipeline. Short term pains.
Really like KJ's energy and role as 6th man. He will still shine brightly. Just need a few more 3's.

If Love comes back to college, I do not believe Arizona is a spot for him anymore with Lloyd bringing in a taller version of him in Dell'Orso.
As far as starting lineups go, everyone could make an argument for theirs to be right, and it not be wrong.
For me, Lloyd has yet to start a true freshman, and been willing to go with multiple veterans in the lineup.
I would love to see Bryant in the lineup with maybe Dell'Orso and Townsend, but like I said, I do not believe Lloyd is going to start a true freshman until I see him do it.

If Love comes back to college, Arizona will for sure be the spot for him, since he is not in the transfer portal.
Regarding our starting five.
I find KJ more likely to be a starter than Dell'Orso or Awaka.
I am pretty sure either Love or Sanon will be playing for us. Maybe even both. If it is just Love he will start. If it is just Sanon I also think he will start. It is true that no freshman has started for Lloyd. But you can make the argument that we did not have a freshman of the same calibre as Sanon. If at all you might count Bam, but Bam was a) hurt the summer before the season, b) very young (younger than Sanon) and c) played a position that comes with more responsibility.
I find it more likely that Townsend will play the four and not the three.

Interesting, because I thought Love did enter the portal?
Then how the hell does it get out that Indiana is preparing to offer Love $1M NIL deal?
As far as the lineups go, there are too many dominoes in play at two many positions.
I believe Lloyd will lean on the veterans.
Until I see it, I have a hard time believing that Sanon/Bryant is going to start even though both of them are top 25 prospects.
The only "locks" that I have right now is Bradley/Krivas.
There are at least 2-4 prospects that could fill those SG/SF/PF spots in the lineup.
I guess we are going to have to continue to stay updated on it, and we can revisit this conversation anytime something new comes up?

You won't find Love in any portal rankings. Be it on3, 247,....
He is not in the portal.
CBS just posted a Love article. Here is one paragraph:
"The reigning Pac-12 Player of the Year noted that he "never" considered dipping into the portal for the second year in a row. If he withdraws his name from the 2024 NBA Draft before the May 29 deadline, he'll head back to Tucson. "
I could also picture Love going overseas for a year, if the money is right.
These freshmen are talented enough to start and Townsend is the only transfer that would likely start...which is strictly a result of Arizona lacking a "true" Power Forward. We could play two centers side-by-side (or a small lineup with Bryant at the 4) but Lloyd will likely start 1-2 of the freshmen, UNLESS Love returns.
