The Washington State Cougars are 11-5. The Arizona Wildcats are 12-3. If you were to look at those two records, you would do the math and see that Arizona is 1.5 games better than Washington State overall: one more win, two fewer losses. If you didn't know anything else about these teams, you would be tempted to conclude there isn't a huge gap between them. However, when you then study their schedules, you realize there is indeed a significant gulf separating the Cougars and Wildcats.
Arizona has played one of the toughest schedules in the country, taking on all comers from all corners of the country. Arizona has played Florida Atlantic, one of the Final Four teams from last season. The Wildcats have tested themselves against Purdue, Michigan State, Duke, Wisconsin, and other top teams. Washington State hasn't played anything close to that kind of schedule in terms of the overall degree of difficulty. Mississippi State might be the best team WSU played before entering its Pac-12 schedule. Washington State does not have an NCAA Tournament-quality resume despite its 11 wins on the season. Beating Arizona might be a requirement (not a luxury) for the Cougars if they want to have any chance of playing in March Madness.

If this game isn't proof that Boswell should no longer be a starter than I don't know what is wrong with you.
Ballo used to be the biggest liability on this team. Now it's Boswell.
When a commentator is saying Ballo isn't up for this game then you really know that there's something wrong. How many times did Ballo miss a layup because he is too unathletic to perform a standing dunk? Tommy refuses to go to Krivas right? So at what point is Tommy going to play Keshad at the 5 and try something different?
Oh yeah.. Where is that guy who tells me all the time Dylan Anderson is incapable of playing basketball? We are a small team and Tommy thinks we are the tallest team. Improperly advertised.
Caleb Love deserves better than this. I'm starting to feel sorry for him. I said this a month ago. The whole team just stands around watching Love... Except Bradley.
We actually took the lead with Jaden Bradley on the floor. Even toward the way end, Bradley played inside the arc and drew a foul, hit his FTs.
Tommy must be actively trying to lose games because every time we had momentum he put Boswell back out there to kill it.
Maybe he doesn't feel he is compensated enough so he is cashing in on gambling.
Or the more likely reason is he just isn't a good head coach now that he has been adjusted to. He won't change anything he does except go back to the original plan that gets us into trouble.
Same script as Purdue really. Make a gameplan, stick to it until we are essentially drawing dead. Then try something new, get right back into it. Then go back to the original plan that destroyed us.
No excuses Tommy. All of you should really stop being mad about it. I've prepared everyone for this. I see the cbox chatter. 95% of you all agree with me and say the same things in your own ways.
I think Tommy is indefensible. I would even venture to say that if we didn't have the win over Duke that we aren't even a Tournament team at the moment. This is getting into the danger zone.
I hope Boswell transfers out "Santa Clara" where he can play against competition at "his level" (Thanks KC Cat - You made me realize Boswell is not Power 5 level). This is getting really sad. Boswell is nothing more than a spot up 3pt shooter and Tommy doesn't know how to design an offense to get Boswell a catch and shoot open 3.
We want red uniforms, but not THESE red uniforms. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that we will never see them again.
Ballo unquestionably more of a liability in last night's game. Our guards made passes that put him in a position to make point-blank layups and he just couldn't hit.
Pumas had a few nice rebounds but overall was outmatched by smaller opponents.
KJ played ok and Pelle would have made a bigger impact if he didn't get some early BS calls that sent him to the bench (in a game where the refs primarily let the kids play-on).
Otherwise, everybody struggled on the Arizona side.
