Title: Keshad "Showtime" Johnson
Post by: arxpert on November 23, 2023, 08:01:01 PM
March Madness Official acknowledging Keshad's Jam. That type of dunk brought me back to the late 90s-early 2000's Swag Era of Arizona Basketball. Tommy brought in something unique to the program in Keshad and Love. 2 players with impact Final Four experience. Not every team in the Nation has that. I hope that it can translate when it matters most and as always hope everyone is healthy all season.

I want to add that I believe this is a Top 5 In-Game dunk in Arizona history. Very unexpected based on the jump, extremely powerful, and eye popping in the moment.

It invigorated the team early on and I believe made a huge statement.

Let's see if anyone here can remember some better Jams than that off the top of their head and see if there are clips around.

Absolutely in the Top 5.
The first two that come to mind right away are DWill vs Duke and Mathurin vs TCU, but I'm interested to see what other people come up with.

DWill for sure is in the Top 5. I remember that dunk and Mamba Mathurin's as well!

I hope others will participate in the exercise. There is a wealth of Arizona Basketball knowledge on this forum and maybe some will remember awesome moments that slip through the recency bias!

PS - This could end up being the In-Game Dunk of the season for all of College Basketball if it isn't currently already. Someone out there will have to top that.

Remember when Rawle killed a guy vs USC?

The Mathurin TCU dunk is currently #1 to me..

2. The DWill putback dunk vs Duke.
3. The Rawle Alkins dunk vs USC in the PAC          12 championship.
4. Dalen Terrys soul stealing tomahawk dunk      vs UCLA in the PAC 12 championship

& 5 would have to be Jermell Horne's dunk on  Kyle Singler in 2011 (epic)

If you're talking about impressive over important, then that dunk ranks high.

I liked Nicks breakaway 360 dunk or D.Wills in traffic 360. Rondaes dunk over the tallest NCAA player in the league over that 7'6 kid.

Important has to be both D.Wills and Horne's. My favorite is Horne's though as it's a classic poster in a huge game.

Had Bayless not missed the dunk over both Lopez brothers.... Aytons dunk on Oregon  was so frightening that it earned him a technical foul was a top 5 all time dunk imo. And of course I have to mention Hassan fucking Adams had a few. And then there's only the greatest Cat ever Sean Elliott who had one of the most beautiful sky high flying down the lane dunks that always sticks in my mind.

I loved Keshads windmill, definitely old school swag. But I can't rank that top 5. Please put respect on the Cats from back in the day, they earned it. Having said that, I'm hopeful KJ catches a body this year that makes me hit my head on the ceiling jumping for joy.

The most impressive dunks I witnessed were in the pregame layup lines from Richard Jefferson while sitting in the Zoo.

Really unfortunate that they banned that for a while. They must have done that by the time Andre got here, because I can't remember him putting on the pregame shows that RJ did.

'Dre, Bayless, Chase, Hotsauce, AG even Gabe York were elite high fliers and I know I'm missing a bunch from the 90's era.

That one also came to mind, but then I couldn't find video of which one it was. It had me thinking I remembered it wrong. I think it was when Miller couldn't coach the game and the Oregon fans were going nuts with the FBI heckling. Ayton was understandably pissed as hell.

DWill dunk with a stern reminder that we are not THAT far removed from the long shorts era of basketball where you barely could see anyone's shins and players were much more elite dribblers than today with this new push to have John Stockton short shorts.

Have to have an appreciation for balls not getting away from players who dribbled between their legs from the Iverson Era-around 2013ish
