The NBA Salary Cap is expected to rise approximately 40% over the next 4 seasons. With the new rules of having to spend a minimum salary, the move makes a little bit of sense. Just a little. Zeke will be earning what will appear to be as close to the minimum for someone with as many years in the league at that point could.
Now in all realistic terms, Zeke doesn't deserve 32 Million dollars. He has done nothing in the NBA. He could have been an all-time great in college. He would have earned less money doing so, but in the end it is a business and I am indifferent to being happy for another person being paid like this for an extreme lack of performance.
The Nuggets are simply bolstering up their Salary cap so they can move players around eventually when they need to make trades.
No one I know has ever felt disrespected for being handed 32 Million dollars for doing nothing, but that is legitimately what has happened here.
Timing is everything. Players in different eras must be infuriated seeing this kind of shit.
