Couldn't be 2 polar opposite schools to join. If true this could be a Twilight Zone episode and I wouldn't know the difference.
If the SEC went out and collected football schools, with no obvious impact on access to the national championship, then I would love to see the BIG12 do a similar move with college basketball. As long as the BIG12 is getting 7-10 bids each year going forward (presuming we add UCONN and Gonzaga), I would absolutely love it.
The BIG12 basketball championship would mean something. MOVE IT TO VEGAS!!!!
If Gonzaga and UConn joins a conference with Arizona and Kansas?
That would put Arizona to have three top 10 matchups within conference.
To be short, the schedule would no longer be an issue with those types of programs in your conference.

UConn and Gonzaga would absolutely make the Big-12 the strongest basketball conference. I already might be...
I personally don't like the idea of offering the Zags because they don't have a football program. Storrs is extremely far from Tucson and the Huskies would be a better fit if they returned to the ACC (with their existing rivals).
LCC, I agree that Vegas would be Ana amazing option for the tournament. It'll be difficult to convince the commissioner to relocate because KC is a solid host. I also think Orlando would be an ideal backup option.

If I were Big12 Commish I would do everything at Jerry World and call it a day.
They had it in Dallas years ago. Nobody cares about "roundball" sports there and the fans never showed. Since moving it to KC, it has been pretty successful.

Also, Medcalf's summary says that the Big-12 has led KenPom's conference rankings in 8 of the last 10 years. This is already the strongest basketball conference in the country (despite ESPN's obsession with Dook and the ACC). We're going to have nice competition in a balanced league that should prepare us for the postseason. Can't wait!!

"We're going to have nice competition in a balanced league that should prepare us for the postseason"That sounds like an excuse to lose regular season games to me.
It is. Kansas never goes undefeated, despite being a top-10 program on a regular basis. Arizona won it all while finishing in the middle of the PAC.
As long as we see improvement and the play isn't sloppy as the season progresses, I'm happy.

"The Pac12 hadn't won a national championship since 1997 and it had only two Final Four appearances in the past 15 years."
Massive Mandela Effect - Soft conference. Tommy will have to adjust to real basketball.
Lloyd coached one of the most brutal OOC schedules over the past 20 years. He won't have issues with player intensity.

So far he lost the locker room at the end of the season 2 years in a row.
I'm expecting a MAJOR Leap in his coaching ability this season. The kid gloves are off. He can't hide behind what was left behind anymore. This is probably the deepest roster in Arizona history with 2 or 3 viable starting options at every position. Now we get to find out if Tommy has progressed in-game because although he has no marquee elite recruits, these are all still top tier players in the grand scope compared to almost every other team in the nation.
Not happening anymore (for now)
I happen to think that Uconn and Gonzaga are smart and not selling out too easily. They seem to know how to do business properly. Arizona jumped for the first offer. It's a different situation because the Pac12 imploded, but UConn and Gonzaga should be holding out for much better deals for the value they will be adding in Basketball alone and I believe they are doing so on purpose. Smart.
