I would say that this is an upgrade from Pacific.
You would think Georgia Tech would go in a different direction though.
You fire one guy with strong Arizona ties, and hire a former Arizona/NBA star with possibly stronger ties to replace him?

Either way, congrats and salute to you Stoudamire.
Here is to hoping you can begin to turn the basketball program around the same way your football program appears to be trending upwards.
