Title: TEs
Post by: Little George on August 25, 2017, 08:25:04 AM
I have the TEs separate this time for a reason. I believe we will actually see real contributions from the TE this year. There are a number of reasons why and I want to touch on them here.

Coaching: with the coaching adjustments the TEs will be much more in the mind of the OC and integrated into the scheme.

Recievers: many of our top recievers are short speedy guys. They will be flying around the field but are often called upon for down field blocking. RR has always preferred bigger recievers for that reason and the numbers do not show any real depth there. Thus we will likely use the TEs for more than just run blocking including the down field blocking. This is for both the pass and run game. Expect the TEs to get a few passes their way this season.

Scheme: we have shifted to more of a run team much like we were with Denker and should be spreading the field using short out routes. With the spread there expect the opponents to come up on the line closer to cover the short routes. This should open up opportunities for our bigger recievers to break open in the middle. It will also open up more opportunity for the big run plays we have seen from our RBs and QBs in the middle of the field. When the D spreads the TE can be a huge target in the middle as well as a difference maker from a blocking stand point.

Players: Wood is the first guy on the list. He has NFL size and ability if he can avoid the injury. He is healthy and should be a major factor for us. Behind him we have another talented guy in Nunley that has shown signs of promise as well. There is more depth behind them but these two will be a huge for us this year.
