Title: 2022 Free Agency Period
Post by: mvpreed2 on April 04, 2022, 10:05:31 AM
Now that the season is over, we are going to see coaches get hired/fired, players leave for the NBA, HS/JUCO prospects commit/decommit, etc.
This is going to set off a domino effect of players entering the Transfer Portal.
If you know any that Arizona has been in contact with, and we will track them below to see where they end up.

COMMITS
F: Cedric Henderson, Jr. (Campbell) - Arizona
G: Courtesy Ramey (Texas) - Arizona

TARGETS
C: Efe Abogidi (Washington State)
C: Fardaws Aimaq (Utah Valley) - Texas Tech
G: Souley Boum (UTEP) - Xavier
F: Keion Brooks (Kentucky) - Washington
G: Kyle Lofton (St. Bonaventure) - Florida
G: Nijel Pack (Kansas State) - Miami
G: Will Richard (Belmont) - Florida

Who is saying we are going after him? Haven't seen anything.

None, but he would be an interesting prospect in the portal. Over half the SEC have over him so far. I know he visited Bama.

Fardaws Aimaq - Utah Valley - Center
This is an interesting storyline if you ask me.
As I type this message, we have two Cs (Ballo/Koloko), one PF (Tubelis) and another C (Anderson) coming in the summer.
Who is going to be the odd man out?

Lloyd has shown he is willing to go big or small in a game.
Having five bigs in your roster is one thing I do not understand at the moment.
This makes me think someone is going to leave (NBA/transfer) OR he realizes he needs four true bigs on the roster to be able to sustain the level of play he truly wants to run?

No clue, but this one is intriguing and I will keep an eye out on the amount of bigs Lloyd is trying to have for 2022-23.

Aimaq only comes if C lo leaves. No way we head into the season with 6 big guys.

Agree I don't  see more than 5 bigs on the team an that's adding the euro big.

Six? Am I missing someone?

Aimaq
Anderson
Ballo
Koloko
Tubelis

Where is that 6th big you mention?

By no means am I trying to pretend to be an insider here. But those who seem to be in the know are pretty certain, that we have an European big lined up who will commit after his season ends. Probably in May / June.

That's not a problem.
Just saying, you should have included that in the post is all haha.
I literally was racking my brain trying to figure out the 6th.
You got a name for this Euro big, or anything else to add about him?

Long, skinny, good shooter.

It makes you wonder how serious  Lloyd is about  any of these transfers until someone transfers. or declares for the draft the  only position  he must fill  is justin kier spot , an probably  Ben's  spot, I would be shocked if he came back just waiting  for him to announce it.

An will Boswell  reclassify  or if not Lloyd must land a pg. In the portol.

According to this link, I am going to add both Abodigi and Boum to this list for the time being

Wow. Shocked that they're leaving Wazzu. Both guys have tremendous upside and Smith did a great job of getting them involved. I know they don't have a lot of exposure at WSU but that's still surprising...

That is a HUGE reason why prospects are on the move nowadays.
If it isn't to have a bigger role and/or playing time, it is to be at a program where there are going to be more eyes on me to showcase my talent.
It sucks for all of the small schools that have to go through this, but you saw how many respectable programs were after Abogidi?
Arizona/Gonzaga/Florida/Kentucky/Oregon to name a few...

Aimaq (Texas Tech) and Boum (Xavier) committed somewhere else.

We went after Scheierman but he is going to Creighton.

You can add Kyle Lofton from St. Bonaventure.

You wonder who Lloyd is really targeting to be the backup pg. There has been a few names  but it doesn't  fill like Lloyd is really trying.

My guess alot of kids don't   wanna come off the bench an play limited  minutes  alot of them want a chance to start.

I am guessing  here kerr still  has atleast 2 or 3 years left of elgalbity  an has  Boswell  coming  in 23 so he probably  just needs a grad transfer for 1 year of basketball.  Than he will have kerr an Boswell  at pg.

I can see Kerr and Bosewell on the court together being very successful

Our backup PG is currently going through the NBA Draft process.
Who the PG is going to be that is coming off the bench?
I honestly don't believe we will have one (at the moment).
Kriisa/Larsson/Terry will share duties until Lloyd is able to find a transfer.

There is still a lot of time left to find a transfer just to play backup PG.
The spring has just begun, and there is still time for transfers to come in and out.
Lloyd will find one..
