Australian Taran Armstrong is the #1 ranked player in the transfer portal.

Given the international track record of Tommy Lloyd, Armstrong to Arizona makes too much sense and I'm hearing a commitment could be coming soon.

The 6'6" Cal Baptist guard just finished his sophomore season. Averaged 11.3 Pts / 5.0 Ast / 4.5 Rebs 48% shooting in 29 minutes per game.

Would be an upgrade at the PG position, certainly on the defensive end.

- "Bigger" guard
- Patient passer
- Has ability to play on the block
- Strong finisher with underrated body control around rim.

I like the length but I don't like the idea of a PG that shoots 3's like Bal but turns it over most often than Kriisa (in a weak conference).

I still have no idea why anybody would rank this dude as the #1 transfer in the portal.

Deb

If he's the #1 transfer, the list of schools offering him other than Arkansas, who offers every transfer in the portal - says otherwise.

These are the players we are reaching to get under Tommy Lloyd. These are the 3-4 year guys you speak to. We have been acting as mid major program and this is the type of player that fits our recruiting ceiling at the moment.

Not able to land the best incoming recruits has more to do with the type of direction the team is heading, which is exactly what you wanted us to become, a real mid major.

If we start landing 3-4 year players as incoming freshman, we would actually be a true Mid Major. We are on the cusp of it. 1 or 2 more years will determine if we are going to have a real resurgence like UConn or if we are going to lose our place in the lore of College Basketball.

It would be a step up from Tollefsen's talent level.

Surprised you only mentioned "mid major" in two of the three paragraphs. What happened at the beginning of the post?

You want Arizona to be a Mid Major. That's unacceptable to me. Trying to fool yourself into believing that my sentiment isn't true doesn't matter to me.

So did you think that Gettings, Hazzard, Coleman, Luther, Kadeem Allen, Tollefsen, Zach Peters, Mark Lyons and Ryan Andersen were "high major" transfers...or did the Miller staff try to turn us into a "mid major" as well?

Those names popped up before the "transfer portal" was a thing.  It wasn't common for players to jump ship like it is in today's basketball world, which shows how unstable our program was for approximately 15 years.
