Tough to recruit with little playing time to promise

Which non-senior on this team is guaranteed to not come back?

It's easier to get elite talent when you have starting minutes to promise, but which 5 star is willing to come in and compete with a senior Ballo or Pelle or Kerr or possibly Tubelis? Hell a junior Bal and Sophomore Boswell, Henri and Dylan will take minutes from most incoming players.

24-25 will likely be a great recruiting year, but for a recruit to commit to us next year is a tough ask, much less the transfer portal where guys are trying to find incredibly meaningful minutes in their final year.

The jury is still out on whether Tommy can recruit until at least the following year.

There is a reason that KJ is the only recruit for next season.  Arizona could very easily lose Henderson/Ramey, while Tubelis/Ballo return to win and improve their draft stock.

Regardless, recruits know that Arizona will have a HUGE amount of playing time for the 2024 class because Kerr, Larsson, Tubelis and Ballo will exhaust their eligibility.

Lewis, Boswell, Borovicanin, Veesaar, Bal and Anderson will be upperclassmen and studs like Carter Bryant would love to have a PG like Bam Bam feed him on a talented team that gets national attention.

The 2023 class won't significantly impact the future of the program but 2024 will give us a good idea of the staff's ability to go after high-end talent.

I still prefer the 4* kids that want to get degrees and embrace the "team" mentality.  We'll see if our upperclassmen stick around and provide stability...or if we become another "one and done" machine that fails to get us back to the Final Four for 23+ years.

Sometimes, you are able to recruit because winning is at the forefront, and these prospects look at the current roster and who each program is recruiting.
There might be some departures after this season, but the 2024 recruiting class is going to rise a bit.
That 2025 recruiting class is where Lloyd should have established relationships to most of these 5* prospects are try to bring some of them in.

Your preferences don't mean anything. This is the NIL Era. 99.99% of athletes are going to use all 4 years then their graduate year to milk as much money as possible. The Big Dance and Conference Tournaments have become an audition for a bag to sign through the portal. Dalen Terry got drafted pretty high otherwise he would have returned. Koloko left because there was no NIL for him and Wenebayama makes him look like he doesn't belong in the G League let alone NBA eventhough Koloko is doing just fine there, he would have fell to undrafted this year. Our team is chalk full of players who can't officially earn NIL at the moment, but they also aren't good enough to make the NBA either. So it will be interesting to see what happens after next season because there is no way Tommy Lloyd is good enough of an American recruiter to land players that will keep Arizona a top 1-2 seed type team and especially if we move to the Big12 forget about it.

All the experts said that Arizona wouldn't be a 1-2 seed before each of the last two seasons started either.

There's no need to find 5* American recruits if your players want to continue playing for your program. Arizona isn't bringing in kids that want to continually transfer out because the staff brought in another blue chip prospect that could care less about winning.
