Krivas has shown he deserves more minutes, but his defense is suspect in some games.
Lewis has shown the same, but at times he can't seem to keep his hands off whenever he gets beat off the dribble.

I was trying to project the starting five next season.
My main question was whether or not BOTH Krivas/Lewis would be in the starting lineup.
I believe Krivas will, but I believe Lloyd might could start anyone of Bradley/Carter in that G spot vacated by Love.
That F spot vacated by Larsson could be filled by Borovacinin/Maruskas or Phillips.
I could see a situation where both freshmen could start though.

You forgot about Henri. Boro and Paulius LOL that's like dumb and dumber at this point for even believing they will get a chance to play under Darth Tommy.

Tommy refuses to play anyone. If he could play 2 guys without catching flack for it he would. He doesn't give anyone minutes until there is no other choice. He even forced Dylan to redshirt with HENRI not even playing (OR Dylan demanded a redshirt to protect his business interests).

There is a universe where all these guys except Keshod return. I doubt it, but there are possibilities in play.

Quote from: Naterade on February 21, 2024, 12:22:09 PMIf Krivas played as many minutes as Ballo he'd average less points and rebounds than Ballo based on his current stats. Im not a numbers guy but it seems like Krivas is coming along nicely and doesn't need to be pushed any more than he is. The only potential problem I see is Ballo getting gassed down the stretch.

I think the opposite. I think Krivas may get the counting stats, but in different ways. Ballo is just a PF playing the 5. He's a load. He gets a ton of FT attempts per game and is usually a 10-10 type player. Krivas has the ability to be a 15-12 type player, but doesn't need to force up layups to make it happen.

It is just clear to me that Tommy refused to develop Krivas this season. Probably was hoping Henri returned. No plays seem set for Krivas. He is good for a nice dump down or a bounce pass dunk after a Guard slashes the lane, but I see Krivas as having jump shot ability. He doesn't need to bang with athletic 6'10" kids to be effective.

MY personal hope for Krivas is he grows into Basketball's new Yao Edey. Can isolate anyone Fronting them, but also can be dangerous from the FT Line so he is unfoulable --- Now don't get it twisted. He isn't 300lbs nor 7'3" or anything like that, but he is close to Edey's height. Give him a couple years to fill out, he could be a Top 3 pick in the NBA. ONLY if Tommy tries to develop him and his talent.

If Tommy is just going to use these kids like Charmin Toilet Paper then don't expect much. Purdue stuck with their core for basically 4 years and now are seeing it through.

KansasCityCats

I'll believe that Ballo is a PF when he stretches the floor and starts hitting 3's. Until then, he's our center.

Lloyd plays the players that are most effective in practice. Paulius, Boro, Krivas and Henri will get plenty of time next season. Especially with Nallo, Pelle, Johnson and Love leaving.

Lewis and Krivas are fantastic role players this year. Looking forward to a couple years more of their development.

A junior Krivas will have the muscle necessary to compete. A junior Lewis will have the jump shot needed to keep defenses honest. Both have incredible instincts.

You don't need muscle if you have hands and footwork. Krivas has neither. MORE IMPORTANTLY, Krivas has no minutes. So he is only as effective as he is allowed to play.

Imagine the day Tommy allows Krivas to play the game and take an 8 foot jumper. Imagine the cutting lanes that open for an Unblockable release point.

Not worried about Krivas' offensive abilities which will undoubtedly improve and extend. He's an absolute liability on defense against other college centers due to how easy he is to bully. Dante builds will destroy Krivas if he doesn't bulk up - which again I believe he will.

He's a goofy freshman still not used to his body. Once that happens the kid has enough instinct on offense to be good. If he can defend his position - he'll be really good.

A lot of words to say Krivas is already better than Ballo or Koloko were as freshman. Future is bright. Can't teach height.

According to your post, it looks like both freshmen are going to instantly be inserted into the rotation.
If Lloyd is not going to develop any of the prospects coming in, he better hope Arizona can continue to win to attract the higher-level prospects.

Also, I do not see a world where all of the bigs return in 2024-25 while there is another big walking in the door.
There is too much of a logjam there, and someone other than Krivas is going to have to get minutes.
I honestly thought Anderson was going to get some reps this season.
Both he and Veesaar have not logged a single minute this season, and it is sad because I thought Anderson could have really helped being paired with Krivas as an inside-out combo in that 2nd unit.
I guess not!
