Arizona Vs Stanford game discussion thread 1/20/22 9pm ESPNU

The Arizona Wildcats are having themselves quite a season, as they are ranked No. 3 in the country and lead the Pac-12. They'll try to stay on top Thursday as they travel to Stanford to meet the Cardinal. The 3rd ranked Wildcats are 14-1 on the season and 4-0 in the Pac-12 while the Cardinal is 10-5 overall and 3-2 in the conference. Stanford beat Arizona twice last season, so the Wildcats will be out for revenge. Can they get the win at Stanford?

Arizona Wildcats stomp Utah
Arizona is killing it this season. They are 14-1 overall and 4-0 in the pac-12, and they have just been blowing people out. Their lone loss this season was at Tennessee, where they lost 77-73. But they have dominate their opponents thus far in the Pac-12, beating Oregon State by 25, Washington by 16, Colorado by 19, and most recently, Utah by 18, 82-64, on January 15. True, they have not yet played the cream of the crop in the Pac-12 yet, but those games will come. In the 82-64 win over Utah, the Wildcats shot 51% from the floor and out rebounded Utah 35-31. They had 24 assists and 16 turnovers while forcing the Utes to cough it up 20 times.

Azoulas Tubelis had himself a game with 32 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. Christian Koloko had 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 blocked shots, while Bennedict Mathurin had 11 points. Mathurin leads the team with 18 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, while Tubelis averages 15.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Koloko averages 13.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per contest. The Cats are second in the nation in points per game, averaging 88.5 and they lead the nation in rebounding. They are first in assists, 3rd in blocked shots, and 9th in field goal percentage. They give up 64.5 points per game and allow opponents to shoot 36.8% from the floor -- third best in the nation.

Stanford looking to play giant killer
The Stanford Cardinal are off to a pretty good start to the season. They are 10-5 overall and 3-2 in a very competitive Pac-12. And consider their wins -- they beat Oregon 72-69, which is one of the best teams in the conference. They beat USC 75-69, which is the 16th ranked team in the country, and they beat Washington State 62-57 -- as a 7 point underdog. Their losses have come to Colorado, back in November, 80-76, and they didn't lose in the conference again until this past Saturday, when Washington beat them 67-64 at Washington. Stanford was favored by 1 point.

In the loss to Washington, the Cardinal held Washington to 35.6% shooting, and they shot 45%, but they still couldn't get the win. They even out rebounded Washington 47-26. So what happened? Washington made 10 threes and Stanford turned it over 21 times to just 8 for Washington. That gave Washington 10 more shot attempts. Brandon Angel led Stanford with 13 points while Lukas Kisunas had 10 points and 12 rebounds. Harrison Ingram leads Stanford with 11.9 points and 6.9 rebounds per game while Jaiden Delaire averages 11.5 points per game. Stanford averages 69.8 points per game and gives up 68.7 points per game.

Arizona is favored by 9.5 and the Over/Under is 150
