(And yes, the NJ charge was BS. I'm still angry about it today and that 2011 team was an amazing exception).

Blaming the guys who get you to the moment is a piss poor cop out. Blaming Derrick Williams, Nick Johnson, Zo Trier, etc is pathetic really. No one knows if they are Jordan-esque until they try to be Jordan-esque. You can't learn that by hitting a game winner vs ITT Tech in November or vs Michigan St on a "Carrier" ship. You can only learn that by going for it. Open shots, missed in that era.

How many times in history has Lebron passed out of a Game Winner? Dahntay Jones hit one in the playoffs vs the Wizards. Kyrie Won him a Title, Ray Allen won him a title.

Yet there are humans alive that call Lebron the GOAT...

Mamba Mathurin is only really a Mamba because he hit a 3pt shot to take us to OT vs TCU. What happened after that? Nothing. He did nothing to carry us forward. He is playing good ball in the NBA. Not a Superstar at the moment, but he is good.

You can't learn anything about a player nor yourself until you are put to the test. If you shy away from it, then that says enough. Someone has to take the shot. You should ALWAYS want the guy who says "I want the ball" for better or worse.

Quote from: Zona Nation on January 18, 2025, 10:16:40 AMSo what is your dream roster. You are allowed to pick 8 guys and all must be Miller or Lloyd players.  My 8 players, Gordon, Johnson, Lauri, TJ, Williams, Benn, Ashley and Green

The best 8 player roster in this era is undoubtedly

TJ McConnell
Nick Johnson
Aaron Gordon
Derrick Williams
DeAndre Ayton

Solomon Hill
Brandon Ashley
Lauri Markkenen

That roster wouldn't make it past the elite eight. Not enough 3 point shooting.

The post didn't say "Pick 8 players for 2025 basketball, a derivative of the Chef Curry Legacy where the torch was passed from the Jordan Era to the Curry Era with nothing else in between stylistically"

The Era of College Basketball most of those players were in was not dictated by needing to chuck 40 3's per game in the College level. In fact, it was dictated by teams that were able to play inside and pull up for catch and shoot 2's. Did some teams win a game or 2 by going crazy from 3 vs Lauri/Ayton's era? Sure.

We saw Buffalo have a game. Did they make the Elite 8 with it? No.

You jut became Caleb Love's biggest fan.

Caleb hasn't done anything for Arizona. I don't care what he did 9 years ago for UNC. It has no bearing on Arizona under Tommy Lloyd. So no, I didn't become Caleb's biggest fan. The only players so far that deserve to prove they are Jordan-esque this season are Bradley and Carter. No one else should be taking a final shot as far as I am concerned. Especially if it is a 3pt shot. I don't care if a long chuck is Caleb's calling card, he didn't EARN the right to do it at the end of the game to this point.

Now if we are in the heat of the moment and Love has 36 points and we need a 3, then sure, he would represent the hot hand. However that is highly situational and as of now this is Bradley's team so he will get the ball and do what he does with it for better or worse because I know Tommy is too gutless to put Carter in for the mismatch on the perimeter to shoot over top of just about anyone with his length

Your above quote had nothing to do with "earning" the right to take the shot.  You specifically stated that we should "always want the guy who wants the ball, for better or worse".  That's Caleb Love.

That's Bradley to me.

You are speaking for me when you talk like that.

I view this as Bradley's team. He wants it more than anyone. He did everything he could to try to win vs Clemson. You are just viewing it how you want to view it and that's fine, but I am viewing it through my lens. Love doesn't appear to me like a guy who wants the ball at all. In fact, e appears like a guy who is tired of getting the ball and is just taking shot because defenses are sagging off of him knowing he is his own worst enemy / not that dangerous whereas the players who are attacking and playing a truly competitive brand of basketball are being defended harder and they are still shining. I keep saying Carter wants it more than others. He is making the shots. I don't care that he misses some FTs. He is draining 3s. He is dunking from above the square.

We have no PG, but he would be lob city alley oops too.
