Trey Townsend is our best player by far on this entire roster. Tommy doesn't know how to coach players who excel at fundamental basketball. Hopefully this team starts playing through him so he can put up 20-10-5 games and make it easier on the rest of the team to hit their shots. We cannot run the offense through Awaka nor Love anymore. Townsend and Bradley is a good enough duo.

Tommy has an opportunity to rebuild this offense and feature Townsend.

A failure to do so will mean certain doom. Especially if the plan is to work for the Moonball Lob to Krivas all day. It's just not going to work. Henri, Love, even Townsend can snap a 3. Bradley can do it too. Dell Orso is the best 3pt shooter on the team, but he can only do it from a set catch+shoot, so unless someone is going to drive and dish, we are looking at a futile scenario.

As of right now, we definitely are not in the Big Dance.

I don't need to look at any pundits. I can guarantee that we are most likely somewhere around the Next 4 Out if even on the list at all. We have zero wins vs anyone that will make the Big Dance - 0 wins against Anyone that is of any circumstance.

UCLA will be our only chance to get 1 win on the board against a pretty low level Power 5 program.

From what I see, we only have 7 ranked games left on our schedule. That could change, but there are ebbs and flows. We may settle around 6 to 8 chances at ranked wins then the Big12 tournament. We would need no less than 5 or 6 ranked wins in order to be somewhere around a 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12 seed depending on how the First Four is calculated this year.

That puts our realistic ceiling if we win out or lose 1, maybe 2 more games the rest of the way at around a 5 or 6 seed. The quality simply is not there to be any higher ---> And that outside shot at a 5 type seed would be if we won the Big12 Tournament or perhaps came up just short in the finals in a thriller, and were placed in the Bracket of Death as far away from the West as possible.

I think we are staring down the barrel of a losing season. Maybe 14 wins.

But maybe Tommy can turn it all around, go on a run winning 9 of the next 10 at least and get back into some sort of respectable groove. Now would be the time to snap off 4 straight, then go into Conference play on a heater to snap off 4 of those first 5.

That is what a Selection Committee needs to see to put us in. Not being yoyo's winning 1, losing 1, winning 2, losing 2. Consistency is key the rest of the way.

Idk man. He hustles hard for loose balls, which I like, but he's almost as much of a defensive liability as Dell'Orso. He's somewhat like a mini Tubelis in that regard. He's generally a good rebounder even though he doesn't box out that often. I can't really single him out for that though. Nobody on this team boxes out at a reliable clip and that has been a trend for basically every Tom team. Henri does, but he just finds the nearest guy and brazenly shoves them out of the way or throws an elbow lol it's hilarious.

The whole operation is such a mess that I haven't seen any one player that stands out as the best.

Agreed with Pryme.  When Townsend is forced to defend the perimeter, we're almost guaranteed to give up a 3.

On the other hand, he's our most versatile offensive player.  I love Townsend's effort and he definitely earns big minutes.

The upside of our roster is that we have a diverse set of talents that can complement the other players.  KJ is a killer defender, Veesaar can extend opponents to the perimeter, Krivas can pass from the interior, Bradley has been our most consistent offensive player, etc.

Hopefully we can find a nice mix of players on the court that find a rhythm.  As long as we make the postseason, Arizona will have an opportunity to surprise opponents.  With a guy like Townsend on the roster (who single-handedly took down Kentucky last year), there's plenty of reason to be optimistic.

Let's not get carried away. He played a great all around game, but I'd wager his teammate who hit 10 threes ended up getting the game ball after the win LOL

Many of the players on this team are struggling  with something or another.

With Townsend  I never expected  him to be good defensively, the problem  is I expected  him to rebound  the much better than he has, everytime  I check his stats he has 3 or 4 rebounds which is not good for your starting  4, his offense is starting  to come along, if he could get his average up to 7 or 8 rebounds a game,  arizona  would be alot better.

Awaka seems like the best rebounder on the team, the problem  is he doesn't  give you many points.

Krivas I have been mostly dissapointed this year, he was suppose to take a big jump, an has not.

I think of the players that have made a jump it's been jaden bradley.

The reason why Townsend isn't getting his rebounds is because Tommy is playing him incorrectly and forcing him up the court before we even secure a rebound as a whole. This team needs to start gang rebounding. It can't be Run and Gun. Tommy wants it to be, but this roster resembles a Sean Miller system roster. Not a Run and Gun. If we can't play in the Half Court we stand no chance in the Big12. It can really be as simple as that alone.

Awaka is not even a "big" and he is competing for Boards with everyone, getting them at a high rate, but Tommy takes him out of games whenever there are any 6'11" guys that play fundamentally. So he is basically rendered useless too.

I think Tommy is convinced he can make Krivas into Zach Edey right now and it is hurting the team.

Lloyd only pushed Townsend to aggressively rebound in one game this season. In that game, Dook out rebounded Arizona by a significant amount (13) because we had an undersized forward not getting back, which led to transition points for our opponent.

After that mishap, Lloyd uses our true bigs to fight for defensive boards.

And today, Jobber State got there hand on almost every rebound whether they secured it or not. That won't fly when we play Real teams.

Any opponent besides Gobbler State is a guaranteed L. Our only shot to level the playing field is to score 100% of our points using the Moon Ball to Yao Edey.

I disagree with that analysis. We could easily win a game 1 to 0 if our defense is capable of playing at a D1 level.
