Arizona Vs Oregon St 🏀 game discussion thread 12/5/21 2pm ESPNU

The Arizona Wildcats have jumped out of the gates early this season, to the tune of 6-0 and a #17 ranking. They will also come into this game with Oregon State with 8 days rest courtesy of a rescheduled game with Washington this week due to COVID concerns. The Wildcats last played on November 27th when they overwhelmed Sacramento State, 105-19.
Arizona, as it turns out, will benefit from the early season break. In their dominant win over Sac State, big man Christian Koloko had to leave the game with an ankle sprain early in the second half. The added rest should help the 7'1 star. Before leaving with the injury, Koloko had totaled 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds, collected two steals and had a blocked shot. The Wildcats had a huge size advantage and exploited it, overpowering the Hornets by 29 points in the paint. Azoulas Tubelis led the way with 22 points as the Arizona offense hummed all night. The Wildcats had 31 assists on 38 field goals and shot 55% from the field.

On the season, Arizona has had only one close game to date, an 82-78 win over Wichita State, and routed Michigan, then ranked #4, in its only marquee matchup so far. With a rested squad and a hot offense in place, the Pac-12 could be in for a rough go this year against the Wildcats.

After a surprising run to the Elite 8 in last year's tournament and with a strong transfer group and a nice mix of returning veterans from last year's squad, Oregon State came into this season with high expectations. Many believed the team could threaten to win the Pac-12 Conference. At the moment, all those expectations look like wishful thinking. The Beavers, after their Pac-12 opening loss to Cal on the road 73-61, have now dropped seven straight games and look like a team that may not even make post season play, let alone compete for a league title.
It was another ugly start for the Beavers as they found themselves down by 13 points towards the end of the first half. A 12-0 run to close the first half briefly gave Oregon State hope but the second half was more of the same. Oregon State allowed Cal to shoot 50% from the field and were out-rebounding by a whopping 42-24 by the Golden Bears. The only positive for Oregon State was that the team took care of the basketball, winning the turnover battle by committing just 7 while forcing 13 for the Bears.

Warith Alatishe led the Beavers with 21 points and eight rebounds. Dashawn Davis came off the bench and chipped in with a solid 14 points, four rebounds and four assists. Once again, it wasn't enough for Oregon State and a far too talented team is left to wonder what has gone wrong in a season with such high hopes. With undefeated Arizona coming to town, the Beavers will need to figure things out very quickly.

Arizona is favored by 12 and the Over/Under is 142.5

Coach Sean Miller's slow and boring style beat the Beavers 98-64 on Jan. 21 last season in Corvallis. What will the line be under t. lloyd's "system?"

Tinkle is still going to try and slow things down because a sloppy game is their only hope to win.

If OSU plays anything like they did against Cal, we'll stomp them.

Including home losses to Samford (not Stanford) and Princeton.

I think we put this one away even though we may struggle a bit on the first true road game.
