It's a sunny day in Tucson ☀. Devonaire Doutrive commits to UofA as expected. He has Great Size, Length, Athleticism, High motor, & is A Tough player. BEARDOWN!

It just seemed like a good fit, the whole atmosphere (at Arizona), Doutrives stepfather Laurian Watkins told 247Sports. You can tell when you walk in there that it was a program of prestige and after meeting with the staff and counselors, it was something we could support as parents.

Now the first domino has fallen, and he is a good one, lets see how the rest of the class is going to pan out.
I bet teams in the PAC-12 were hoping wed fall flat on our faces.

There is a phrase that I used to hear a lot on another site: "It's  going to be sunny in Tucson today."  I think it's going to be sunny all week.  ;)  Which of the top power five/six, whatever, school's out there can still offer immediate playing time? Most have finished their recruiting.  We have 0 returning starters and we lost Pinder.  Good core so nothing is automatic but, the chance is there.  :)

Welcome aboard DD, you'll get that Qaud/Deuce at Arizona.  8)

Very nice pickup! After watching video on him, the things that stand out to me is he has a lot of range and can hit from anywhere. He's very good at using footwork and change of direction to create an open shot for himself (he likes to dribble then back step into an open shot). Like he says himself, he'll need to work on putting on more muscle to become even more athletic.

I just want to say Big props to WILDcatAZfan on letting us know before everyone else that he was going to commit on his visit. Check out the allsports article below plus another highlight below. I have a feeling Devonaire is going to be a good one!

This is really great news, and good call Wild. I haven't looked at his highlights yet, but from what I am reading he looks "good to go". So now that we have the first piece has fallen, now this will lead to more following his lead. BTFD!

This news is like a big sigh of relief after such a challenging last nine months for the program.  As for DD, I see a lot of talent and versatility, but he needs to put on some muscle weight. His game and body movement resembles Kobi Simmons quite a bit, but with lesser expectations coming in. DD could become a big piece for us by his sophomore year, maybe even as a freshman if he can bring more intensity on defense than Dylan Smith and Brandon Randolph, both of whom had a perpetual deer in the headlights look in their eyes all year long.  If we can get Akinjo and Brown, some quality grad transfers, and a couple big freshmen to sophomore improvement,  we may very well win the pac12 again next year.  Thank you Devonaire and Bear Down!!

Im going to shift the thread for a second and beg the question to spark some discussion, with so many Gs on the roster now (Smith/Randolph/Doutrive), do YOU think we move Akot to SF, or continue to use him as a G/F?

I like the idea of having Akot as a G, but the types of SF that Miller loves are not available in the HS ranks, nor are there any grad transfers on the market.
I hope Miller is able to land some quality SFs to continue to use Akot as a G because I am not sure that Akot would be able to hold his own guarding true SFs in the PAC-12.

We not have a LOT of guards on this team (Barcello/Smith/Randolph/Akot), and no wings.
We have seen what happens with no true wings on our roster, and unless Miller is willing to tweak the system and allow the system to fit the players, we may have a tough one in 2018-19.

I was the other way on this one. I didnt think Miller had any intention of using Akot at the 2. Actually think Akot may be putting in time at the 4 unless we pick up there. A guard at the 3 isnt abnormal for Miller though. Trier and Alkins have both played the 3.

I am wondering if one of Randolph / Smith / Doutrive will be at the 3 quite a bit this season also.

He's got a nice stroke, great step back to get an open shot. Looks like he enjoys playing defense to get the fast break game going. I gladly eat my words that we would not get a Commit until we had a Assistant Coach announcement. Let the Domino's fall.  Now I just have to figure out how t pronounce his name.. lol

Just seen a video on YouTube and the young lady on there said it as Do-tree.
Take that for what it is worth.
I will see if I can find another vid with a different pronunciation.

Not sure what we are actually getting with DD. Looks like he has the length to be a good perimeter defender but needs a lot of work on that end or at least needs to up his hustle. His outside shot goes in and he doesnt get flustered so he should adapt well.

Based on what I have seen on film, the only HS prospects we are after that are immediate impact recruits are Williams and Brown.
Im betting Miller is trying to get 4-5 year players to bridge the gap until this FBI case is handling and we are in the clear so the ship doesnt sink.
2019 is the class I am going to watch and see how we handle things, because that will be a good indicator of how the recruits view our program.

I like the last highlight video you put up showing Devonair's game. He looks like he should've been recruited by a lot more schools & lucky for us he just went under the radar.
