Update - I'm being told the reason is Devonaire Doutrive's was dismissed from the team due to attitude and conduct detrimental to the team. I have no specific details at the moment.

WOW!!! Check back for an update as to why he was kicked off the team.

"Effective immediately, Devonaire Doutrive has been dismissed from our men's basketball program for violation of team rules. He will continue to receive academic aid and support through the remainder of the current semester. We wish him well in the next steps of his academic and athletic career."

I hope he learns from whatever he did, but I can't say that I'm too disappointed as a fan. Seems like we have plenty of talent without him. The way Baker and Hazzard have been playing, didn't look like he was going to get much of a chance to play a lot of minutes.

If he was a distraction and bad team mate then good riddance. Tighting up the rotation isnt a bad thing in my eye.

Last night I saw and heard him on the court from the 29th row yelling at his teammates that he was open.  Not sure I have ever seen or heard anything like that in the 7 years I have been a season ticket holder.  Perhaps it truly was a bad apple type of issue.

Bummer.  He seemed like a kid we could watch grow over the next few years.

I saw him barely passed ball to his teammates. When the ball was in his hands our offense died

It's as sad as it was predictable.  I was afraid this was coming.  I really, really wanted to see what he could become on the court.
Best Wishes and Luck for the future!

This in reality is a big loss for next years team as it just adds an another scholarship no one seems to want into the equation. (Brown, Baker, Lee, Koloko, and maybe Williams*) Looking like another 2018-2019 season in store for us. Good news though this likely has little effect on this year's group outside of losing some depth. Baker and Smith have both been shooting the ball well and both have been solid/decent defenders. And Max is a straight pitbull on D and despite struggling from behind the arc it's easy to see the stress he puts on defenses when he's on the floor. Real winner in all this Christian Koloko might finally start to get the minutes. And as a big fan of Doutrive I hope the man gets his shit together and starts killing it wherever he ends up.

Now he enters the great black hole of transfers we never hear or see anything about again.
